The Andhra Pradesh government, in collaboration with IT and ITES Industry Association of AP (ITsAP), a registered apex body with more than 300 members representing the software industry in the state, will be holding its annual IT summit in Hyderabad from 21, 2012.

With a focus on promotion of small and medium enterprises. the two-day event is expected to see the participation of about 1,500 delegates. The organisers of the event have also added electronics hardware to the conference agenda this time.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, state IT minister Ponnala Laxmaiah said that Infosys Technologies chairman KV Kamath, among other industry bigwigs from India and overseas, were going to take part in the event.

Ranking as the third-lowest in the cities across the world in terms of cost of infrastructure and abundant availability of skilled manpower on top of it, Hyderabad has been poised to create a niche position in the country’s IT sector, the minister said. He said that the summit would provide business opportunities for both domestic as well as overseas companies.

Andhra Pradesh stands fourth in terms of software exports in the country. The growth in software services exports for the last financial year is expected to be around 15 per cent, according to the minister.

The proposed IT investment region (ITIR), connecting three developed and upcoming IT hubs in Hyderabad at an investment of Rs 2,389 crore, is waiting a Cabinet subcommittee approval, Laxmaiah said.

Sixteen Union ministries, apart from the Planning Commission, have already approved the project, which envisages the development of physical infrastructure in the proposed region, according to him.
