Hyderabad May get Disneyland Park
If the plans of the Telangana Tourism Department fructify, then Hyderabad, the city of pearls, will get the global amusement giant Disneyland to establish its state-of-the-art theme parks and adventure rides.
“The talks with Disneyland Park representatives are at a preliminary stage now. Once the terms are finalised, Telangana will have its own Disneyland with all its splendour,” an official of the tourism department said.
Once the plans are finalised, Hyderabad will join the ranks of Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong in attracting Disneyland to establish theme parks and adventure rides. And, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and all other Disney characters may well be heading to Hyderabad.
“We met the team couple of weeks back in New Delhi and gave a bouquet of offers for them to set up an amusement park on the outskirts of Hyderabad and informed them about the availability of ready-to-use man-power and technical expertise to meet their operational standards,” the official said.
A preliminary presentation has been given to Disneyland representatives about the incentives being offered by the state government to attract industries, particularly in tourism sector.
“An international consultant familiar with the developments informed us that Disneyland representatives identified certain areas in the vicinity of Nagarjuna Sagar in the neighbouring Nalgonda district as they were impressed with the landscape along River Krishna. We hope to hear from them soon,” official sources said.
A project of the size of Disneyland needs land anywhere in the range of 300 acres to 1,300 acre, officials have identified certain smaller land parcels in the neighbouring Ranga Reddy district and the larger ones in Nalgonda district to meet the requirements of the amusement park.
With the state tourism and industries department vigorously wooing investors from across the world to choose Telangana as their investment destination, Disneyland Park would surely be a jewel in the crown of Telangana, the officials say.
Disneyland Parks attract millions of visitors across the world every year. There is a Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida, both in the United States.
